Gems like 'Heart-Shaped Hole', 'Worlds Collide', and the original version of 'Stranded' that's been covered by Jennifer Paige are all here.While her later albums are arguably still well-received, with her recent dance-club hit 'In My Arm' off 2008's 'Blink', this album was the defining moment for a group on the brink of phenomenal success. Tiffany Arbuckle hit the crest of her prowess with this very accessible Christian album with pop sensibilities. Still a fave after a decade.
Check them out. Their cd title is a bit odd, but their music is awesome. I love this cd the most but their other ones aren't too bad either. This cd is extremely good. The lyrics and the music blend perfectly with the sound of the singer's voice.
A couple of the songs are more spiritually focused, particularly 'God Shaped Hole', which I think is the best song on the album. They could be talking about a relationship with God or a human. This is not as edgy as 'Chaotic Resolve', but it is still good and worth a listen. Although I don't believe that it is on a par with her album, 'Chaotic Resolve', this album is quite good.It features various sounds ranging from mild pop to more intense rock. The vocals of the lead singer are very unique and add a lot to the package.Most of the songs are lyrically ambiguous.
Each is lyrically strong, particularly LGPE, and each seems to cover a different mood. While parents will find it 'cute' I find it a waste of 30 seconds. I didn't pay much attention to the tracklisting past Late Great Planet Earth since that is my favorite song by Plumb. Plumb mixes so many genres without even trying. So no complaints on that. Even if you're not a fan of Christian music, I feel that the religious themes are so under the collar that you'll not even notice. One song will be pure pop, the next will have a subtle hip hop influence, and the next will venture into rock. If you had to pick a low point on this CD it would probably be Worlds Collide: A Fairy Tale.
If you're in the mood for a fairly intricate soothing song, look no further than Brokedown Palace's anthem, Damaged. After hearing Plumb's Greatest Hits release, I figured there'd be no reason for me to buy any further CDs from them seeing as how that was such a great disc. What I really like about this CD is that it seems as though every song on here could be called a hit. It's a good song in every right, but following such an amazing line-up of songs is no easy task. Everything from Here With Me to Damaged is on here, basically over half of the Greatest Hits disc. There's really not a thing about this song not to like. Lie Low and Phobic are two of the most relaxing songs you'll soon hear and God-Shaped Hole is as catchy as you'll get. I eventually wanted to hear 'new' stuff from them so I purchased candycoatedwaterdrops.
The hidden track, if you want to call it that, is horrible. This is a wonderful release with amazing vocals, thanks to Tiffany Arbuckle. It brings to mind a rainy day, watching the rain trickle down the window. Basically, it's a good song, but in comparison, it falls short. Solace, next to LGPE, is the highlight of this record.
While it would be hard for anyone to follow up such a flawless CD, Plumb did accomplish the seemingly impossible. But no real love lost on it.My favorite songs are Late Great Planet Earth, Phobic, Solace, Damaged, and candycoatedwaterdrops. Definitely give this band a chance. All it is is a little girl singing a song that they teach you in church. Once I did look, however, I was amazed at how many wonderful songs are included.
candycoatedwaterdrops seems like a song you'd hear in a lounge with dim lighting sang by a gorgeous woman. This is the other rock-esque track on here. Any band with that kind of range, whether they want to or not, will draw attention to themselves.The first three tracks, Late Great Planet Earth, Stranded, and Here With Me, have always been some of my favorite tracks by Plumb. It even resembles early Avril Lavigne.
At least for women, I think. The song is about child abuse - physical and sexual - and I believe for anyone who has ever been a victim the song has a cathartic healing power to it that can't be ignored.
Give it a serious listen and find out why.If you are wavering about this CD, at least buy it for "The Late Great Planet Earth" and "Damaged". Ms Arbuckle has said that she has been told by quite a few people that "Damaged" has greatly helped them.
This album is in my top 20 list. as did I.
You won't be sorry. I've played this for many many people, none of whom are even remotely christian and everyone has absolutely LOVED it.It's progressive, slightly funky, and definitely rockin with wonderful lyrics, mostly of the "uplifting" kind.One word of 'warning' however; the song "Damaged" is not only depressing it's ridiculously addictive.
Every woman I've played that song for has gotten their own copy and confessed later to playing the one song over and over and over.
